This policy explains which personal data HUSTIX Network collects when you visit our website or play on our servers, why we do it and what rights you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible
Hustix Network runs this website and the HUSTIX Minecraft network from Austria, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG) apply. You can reach us under "Contact" at the end of this page. Our full provider details will be published in the imprint before the official launch.
What we collect and why
Visiting the website
- Our web server writes your IP address, the time, the page you asked for and your browser type into a server log. We need this to deliver the site, keep it secure and find errors.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and the site does not load fonts or scripts from other companies.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working and secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Server logs are kept only for a limited time.
Your account
- Your username and your password. The password is stored only as a salted hash, so nobody can read it, not even us.
- An optional profile text, your role on the site, and when you registered and were last active.
- We do not ask for your email address, your real name or your date of birth.
We use this to run your account, the forum and the bug tracker. Legal basis: you ask for an account and we need the data to provide it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Cookies
We set one cookie, hx.sid, only when you log in or use a form. It keeps you logged in and protects forms against forgery. It is valid for one day, or for 30 days if you choose "Keep me logged in". It is strictly necessary for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent. We set no other cookies.
Forum posts, bug reports and comments
What you write in the forum, in the bug tracker and in your profile is public: everybody can read it together with your username, also visitors who are not logged in. Please do not post personal data. Internal notes of the team on bug reports can only be seen by the team. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Linking your Minecraft account (optional)
If you link your Minecraft account with the code from /weblink, we store your Minecraft UUID, your Minecraft name and the time of the link. The site then shows a check mark and your in-game rank next to your name, and that is visible to everybody. The website only reads rank data from the game database, it never changes it. You can unlink in your settings. Legal basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Linking your Discord account (optional)
If you use /link on our Discord server, our bot stores your Discord user ID together with your Minecraft UUID and name. It uses them to give you the Discord role that belongs to your in-game rank. You can end this at any time with /unlink. What Discord itself does with your data is described in Discord's own privacy policy.
Ban appeals
You can appeal a ban at appeal.hustix.net without an account. When you enter your Minecraft name, we ask Mojang for the matching account and check our ban list. If you send an appeal, we store your Minecraft name and UUID, the details of the ban (number, reason, date, length), your message, the contact you may add (Discord name or email), the time, the decision and the note of the team member. Only team members can see appeals. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in fair moderation and your own request (Art. 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR). We keep an appeal as long as it is needed to handle your case and to judge later appeals or repeated rule breaks.
Playing on our servers
When you connect, we process your Minecraft name, your UUID and your IP address. We also store your rank, your game progress and statistics, and punishments such as warnings, mutes and bans, with the reports and anti-cheat records that led to them. We need this to run the game, to keep it fair and safe, and to enforce our rules. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.
Some punishments are issued automatically, for example by the anti-cheat or the chat filter. You can appeal every ban, and a team member then reviews it.
Who receives your data
- Hosting: the provider of the server we run the website on processes data on our behalf.
- Skin images: to show player heads, our server asks minotar.net or mc-heads.net for the skin of a registered username. They receive that username and the address of our server, not your browser. The images are then shown from our own server.
- Mojang (Microsoft): appeal lookups send the Minecraft name you enter to Mojang to find the account.
- Images in posts: posts can contain images that are hosted on other websites. When you open such a post, your browser loads the image from that website, which can then see your IP address.
- Other websites: our store at store.hustix.net and Discord are separate services with their own privacy policies.
- Our team: team members only see the data they need for their tasks.
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it on for advertising. Some of the services above may be located outside the EU and EEA, for example in the USA. We only send them what is listed here.
How long we keep data
- Account and posts: until you ask us to delete them.
- Minecraft and Discord link: until you unlink.
- Ban appeals and punishment records: as long as they are needed to enforce our rules and to judge later cases.
- Server logs: only for a limited time.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict how we use it, to receive it in a common format, and to object to processing that is based on our legitimate interests. Write to us and we will answer within one month. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it together with what you posted with it.
You do not have to give us any data. Without a username and password there is no account, and without your IP address a connection to our servers is not possible.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
Security
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored as hashes, and the website has read-only access to the game database. Only team members who need access to a type of data can see it.
Children
Many Minecraft players are young. Under Austrian law you must be at least 14 to agree to the use of your data online on your own. If you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian before you register or send us anything.
Changes
We update this policy when something changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
